The first 36 years of my life was a mess—a train wreck.

I was wandering aimlessly in the dark with my eyes closed not knowing what would happen next.

At 14, I started using (any and everything). And hanging around all the wrong people.

By 17, I was a full blown addict and alcoholic.

By the age of 29, I had been married twice, divorced once and became a widow. I had deep wounds from an abortion, and couldn’t cope with the suicide of my 2nd husband who was the father of my two daughters.

The last 8 years of my addiction, I was on meth. I ended up losing everything and was in jail facing manufacturing charges with my boyfriend.

I know this sounds tragic and hopeless. BUT GOD.

Yes, God. He stepped on the scene and saw me for who I really was—a woman of God, fearfully and wonderfully made with a purpose and worth.

It took time for me to find the woman God created me to be, but God put people in my life to love me, guide me, and mentor me in His Word.

Today, I have…

It’s a blessing every day to work at the Haven, to give back to other beautifully broken women, and to pour out what God has given me. God uses every dark place, every tear, and every hurt. He’ll heal life’s hurts, and use them for good, if we let Him.

So, let God turn your bad experiences into good life lessons. Let Him heal you, and use you to heal others just like He has done for me!

He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock and established my steps. – Psalm 40:2 NKJV

Dacia, all these years and I had no idea that you had experienced these things. God has indeed blessed you and given you a second chance! What an amazing woman you are! God will continue to bless you as you are blessing others!

I am a retired teacher. I write and make wahoo boards (google it.) I visit a lot of yard/tag sales to find material to recycle to make my game boards. A couple of weeks ago, I stopped at a moving sale. I explained about why I was there, bought a few items (wooden TV tray tables) and saw an opportunity to witness. I did. The lady took information for one of my books and expressed a desire to buy a book. (sale one) Next stop. Again, we talked about why my board-making habit/hobby. They thought it was great. They informed me that they were raising money for the children in their church for camp. I shared a desire to help. Said I would share. Exchanged phone numbers. (Break, change of subject, sort-of) Days earlier had a pipe break on my well pump — $125. Then developed freon leak in HVAC — $368. Total $543. Now give to kids camp? God told me to. I did. Now — $643. You can’t out-give God! A lady stopped me as I left the yard sale. Said God told me to give you this. Said God tole her I was a man of God before I said anything. Said, Here and gave me a plain white envelope. I didn’t open it right away. Was a little taken aback. Couple of stops later, counted the contents. — $225. Two board sales — $40. Total now — $265. Not through yet. Later, at home, my wife shared a letter from our life insurance company. Seems we overpaid during 2015. — $318. Total now — $583, On top of everything else, several of the ladies at the sale began to load into my truck more wooden pieces to make more wahoo boards. I have also seen an increase in supplies. Value — more than $50. Total now — $633. I am not a mathematician, but that looks pretty close to me. Throughout all the two days, I found more materials, made some sales and (best of all) was able to witness for the Lord. You can’t put a value on that. I don’t think I have seen then end of these blessings. It also helped me get past the amount I needed to get my next book published. That’s why I am on this site today. I hope this has touched some life and brought the encouragement needed. I know it has given me a needed boost. Thank You Jesus!
